GIHS is Lowering Intake with TNR and Community Cats

In Jump 2015, Galveston's Urban center Council passed a feral true cat ordinance, allowing the Galveston Island Humane Society to develop and implement a Trap-Neuter-Release, or TNR programme, called Galveston Island Community Cats (GICC).

"We knew that we had a unique opportunity, living on an island, to implement a TNR program and see solid results," remarks Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS) Executive Director Caroline Dorsett Pate. "Through this partnership of the shelter, the customs sponsors, and our local vets, I recall we accept proven TNR to be a successful selection for managing feral true cat populations in a humane, positive manner."
